Harm reduction is a set of practical strategies that reduce the negative consequences of drug use. It incorporates a spectrum of strategies from safer use, to managed use, to abstinence. Consistent with the Health Care for the Homeless approach to care, harm reduction strategies are useful for clinicians of all disciplines to help effect behavioral change. Participants will learn the essentials of harm reduction best practices and identify case examples of harm reduction strategies in medical and behavioral health settings.
After completing this activity, students will be able to:

- Identify three elements of organizational support for harm reduction implementation.
- List three best practices in harm reduction from medical perspective
- Identify three strategies for implementation of harm reduction in homeless services
