The National HCH Council is thrilled to announce the Idea-to-Implementation Project (ITIP) to registrants of our 2018 National Conference & Policy Symposium. The goal of ITIP is to ensure our conference attendees are equipped to turn inspiration into improvement within their own communities. One ITIP applicant will be selected for intensive coaching to implement a new program or initiative that they learned from the 2018 Conference. This is a unique opportunity to access hands-on assistance to help you make tangible changes in your organization. Eligibility:
Applicant organizations must be HRSA-funded health centers in the United States and its territories whose staff were represented at the National HCH Conference in Minneapolis, May 15-18, 2018. Neither membership with the Council nor any previous involvement, other than attendance at the Conference, affect consideration.
Selection Criteria:
- Relevance: how central is the applicant’s idea to the work of the National HCH Council? Does the Council have consultants available with this expertise?
- Feasibility: how practical is it that this initiative or practice change can be implemented within the timeframe in light of the applicant’s and the Council’s resources?
- Need: how important is the struggle this initiative is meant to ameliorate?
- Impact: how much would this project improve the status quo of the applicant’s organization?
- Support: does the staff representative enjoy the support, and, if applicable, the funding, from the organization’s senior management to implement their proposed project?
- Commitment: can the applicant commit to the process and make every effort to implement the new project on time and report to the Council accordingly?
Responsibilities:
The selected applicant for ITIP agrees to:
- Dedicate staff time through one Project Lead to shepherd the initiative to fruition and liaise with the Council.
- Agree to one-hour monthly conference calls between the site visit and completion date (by June 30, 2019).
- Strive to provide modest funding that may be required to implement the project—the Council’s consultation would address any necessary fund development.
- Host the consultant for an initial site visit in the fall of 2018.
- Complete an evaluation survey and final report following the project’s completion.
The Council agrees to:
- Identify and contract with a Subject Matter Expert (SME) consultant with relevant experience.
- Provide administrative support to the entire ITIP process, including hosting conference calls, coordinating travel arrangements, and all relevant communications to ensure goals and deadlines are met.
- Ensure the quality of consultation and TA resources toward the implementation of the project.
Timeline:
- Applications are due June 29, 2018, by Midnight Pacific Time
- Selections will be announced by July 30
- SMEs will be selected by August 30
- Launch meeting (via conference call) will take place by September 30
- Initial Site Visit: October-November
- Monthly coaching calls: December 2018-June 2019
- If possible: in-person coaching session at 2019 National Conference, May 22-25, in D.C.
