Medical Respite Directory

Medical Respite Care is acute and post-acute care for people experiencing homelessness who are too ill or frail to recover from a physical illness or injury on the streets, but who are not ill enough to be in a hospital. This directory contains descriptions of all known medical respite programs in the United States; these programs offer safe shelter, clinical care, and aftercare planning assistance that people without homes need to recover from illnesses or injuries.

If your program is not reflected in the directory please complete a program profile form and contact Julia Dobbins.

The National Health Care for the Homeless Council’s Respite Care Providers’ Network assembled these descriptions to inform others about the vital services these programs offer, and to facilitate communication among them. Membership in the Respite Care Providers’ Network is free: learn more.
