Opening Keynote Speaker: Dr. Howard Pinderhughes
Howard Pinderhughes, PhD, is a social and behavioral scientist and associate professor at the University of California, San Francisco. He has conducted research and program development in the areas of violence prevention and intervention, community trauma, and the relationships between race, structural inequality, and trauma on the health outcomes of adolescents. Dr. Pinderhughes views communities as the vital piece in overcoming health care challenges, building resilient citizens, and healing historical trauma. He serves on the Board of Directors at the Prevention Institute and is the author of the book Race in the Hood: Conflict and Violence Among Urban Youth. Learn more.
Closing Keynote Speaker: Mario Arnauz Bonds
Mario Arnauz Bonds is a motivational speaker and singer/songwriter who has overcome adversity to share his story and inspire others. After losing both his vision and his parents, Bonds experienced abandonment and homelessness before overcoming these setbacks to pursue higher education. Now a technology expert, Bonds provides computer guidance to aid individuals in need of support and recently won the prestigious Imagination Award in 2012 for his work with students and the performing arts.

Site Visits: See Homeless Services In-Person
At #HCH2018, we toured four local agencies dedicated to providing shelter, support services, and other assistance to people experiencing homelessness: People Serving People, Higher Ground, the Salvation Army Harbor Light Center, and YouthLink. Learn more.
Social Justice Rally
HCH2018 closed with a social justice rally for “Health, Housing, & Humanity” in Loring Park. Learn more.
Award Presentations
We honored outstanding HCH leaders and organizations with awards for leadership, medical respite, consumer advocacy, and service at #HCH2018. These deserving individuals and groups are making a difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness. Learn more.
Consumer Subsidies
Encouraging consumer participation in all aspects of our work, the Council offered a number of consumer subsidies to cover registration, lodging, meals, and partial travel expenses. The deadline for applications has passed.
John N. Lozier Scholarship for New Members
Honoring our founding Executive Director, the Lozier Scholarship supported one person’s attendance to HCH2018, covering expenses up to $1,000! The deadline for applications has passed.
